Hello! I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone that made my first week
back great, especially my 22 new fifth grade pals. I am looking forward to a
fantastic year together!
This week:
- Reading, science, and math district leveled assessments will be given Mon-Wed
- Holiday Party on Thursday. If your child has a favorite board game, they are welcome to bring it! (no electronics, please)
- All correct and return assignments are due on Thursday, 12/21
- NO school on Friday, 12/22
- Holiday break 12/22/17 - 1/8/18
Math: We will review concepts covered throughout the semester and work with logic puzzles.
No problem of the day quiz this week.
ELA: Figurative language, literary devices & elements, and purpose of various forms of
poetry. We will be writing our own poems using our knowledge of figurative language.
- Quizlet: Poetry & Bill of Rights vocabulary. Quiz on Thursday
Science: We will focus on thermal energy on Monday and Tuesday, and then review for our
“Forms of Energy” test on Thursday, 12/21 Science Study Jams
- Energy doesn't go anywhere...it just takes different forms!
- Energy is never created nor destroyed, it is transferred/changed from one form to another.
Social Studies: Review week 9 newspaper and the US constitution. Bill of Rights
